Musine Kokalari Academy for Social and Public Policy
The Institute for Social Policies “Musine Kokalari” opens a call for applications to participate in the Academy for Social and Public Policy, which will be held at the ‘Nartel’ hotel in Pristina (Kosovo) from September 27 to October 1, 2021.
The overall goal of the Academy is to educate young people with progressive ideas about social values such as social justice, anti-discrimination, citizenship, freedom of expression and religion, secularism, feminism, workers’ rights, and more.
The Academy’s program includes theoretical lectures and practical training, screenings of films, documentaries, and exhibitions on social, historical, and political issues in Kosovo and the region.
Throughout the week, participants will have the opportunity to attend modules led by local, regional, and international lecturers, researchers, experts, and educators.
The curriculum includes topics such as: the social history of the Balkans and myths in historiography, theories of Balkan nationalisms, citizenship after the breakup of Yugoslavia, ideological schools of historical thought in Kosovo, the relationship between religion and national identities, feminism and intersectionality theory, trade unionism and the welfare state, etc.
The Academy is organized with the support of the “Olaf Palme Center”.
All participation expenses will be covered by the Institute, including:
- Travel
- Meals
- Visits
- Lecture costs
During the Academy, two languages will be used: Albanian and Serbian, with interpreters for both.
The Academy will be held in compliance with COVID-19 safety measures.
Who can apply?
The Academy will select 20 candidates. Applications from women and minorities are encouraged.
Who is eligible to apply:
- Be aged 18 to 25 years
- Have a good command of the English language
- Have basic knowledge of social sciences

Selection process:
The selection is done in two stages:
- First phase – selection based on the CV and motivation letter
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview
Successful participants will be certified.
