Social cohesion, citizen participation, and equal access to social services were among the key challenges discussed during the first meeting with members of the Thematic Group of Assembly Members for Social Policies and Services in the Municipality of Kamenica, held within the framework of the “Inclusive Social Dialogue” project.
The discussion also highlighted that social policies are closely interconnected with other areas, such as education and transport, as access to these services directly affects citizens’ well-being, social inclusion, and opportunities.
Among the specific issues raised were the need for greater care and support for older persons without adequate care, the development of care services for children with special needs, as well as support for other vulnerable groups.
Particular attention was also paid to the difficulties faced by citizens in rural areas in accessing services. The provision of transportation was discussed as an important element in ensuring access to education, social services, and other public services, as well as in reducing social isolation.
The meeting marks the beginning of the work of the Thematic Group in Kamenica, through which the aim is to address issues related to social policies and services in a more structured manner at the local level.
The next step will be to organize a joint meeting with local organizations working in the social field, activists, and relevant municipal institutions, with the aim of having a broader discussion on the needs, challenges, and priorities in the area of social policies and services in Kamenica.
