“It is essential that the enlargement processes are based on social justice, regional solidarity, and citizen participation,” emphasized Visar Ymeri, Executive Director of the Musine Kokalari Institute for Social Policy, during the conference “A Common New Chapter for EU Enlargement,” held on May 8 in Brussels.
The event was organized by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) in cooperation with the S&D Group of the European Parliament.
This conference brought together European policymakers, researchers, and civil society representatives to discuss the necessary reforms for an inclusive and sustainable enlargement of the European Union.
The discussions focused on EU institutional reforms, methods of gradual integration for candidate countries, the key role of the younger generation, as well as the challenges posed by the rise of nationalist forces in Europe.
