The Academy of Public and Social Policy Musina Kokalari 2022

























The Academy of Public and Social Policy of Musina Kokalari in its second edition will be held from November 14 to November 18, 2022 at Hotel Sirius (Prishtinë).

- Jean-Arnault Dérens, historian of France and specialist in the Balkans
- Fatos Lubonja, writer and scholar from Albania
- Nathalie Clayer, scholar in France who specialises in the study of nationalism and the process of state formation in the post-Ottoman era, with a special focus on Albania and the Balkan Peninsula
- Bekim Baliqi, political scientist from Kosovo and lecturer at the University of Prishtina
- Mikael Skou Andersen, expert in environmental policy at Aarhus University (Denmark)
- Arlind Qori, political scientist from Albania and lecturer in political science at the University of Tirana
- Ermira Danaj, researcher from Albania, specialised in the field of feminism and gender politics
- Adri Nurellari, political scientist from Albania
- Leart Kola, political scientist from Albania
- Jelena Savić, studying in Serbia and specialising in the theoretical criticism of racism
- Valon Murati, a political scientist from Kosovo and a lecturer at Kolegjin International Universum in Prishtina
- Edona Krasniqi, a student from Kosovo and specialising in the fields of economic and political development of the public
- Artan Mustafa, studies and teaches at the University of Kosovo and specialises in social policy
The programme
During the five days of the Academy, the following topics were covered:
- Nation, Nationalism, Ethnicity, Citizenship and Nationality,
National myths and definitions of nationality - Political ideologies and the political spectrum
- Equality, inclusion and feminist theories
- Racism and anti-racism in the Western Balkans,
- Public and social policies, human rights and the welfare economy
The programme was also enriched with:
- Screenings of selected documentaries such as ‘Parrullat’ as a cinematic reflection on totalitarian Albania, ‘Whose Is This Song?’ on national identities in the Balkans, and ‘Behemoth’ on ecological destruction and the social consequences of unbridled industrialisation.
- Ideological debates and open discussions, including the discussion ‘The Left and the Right in Kosovo and the Region’ — with the participation of analysts and researchers from across the political spectrum.
- Meetings and discussions with representatives of the LGBTQI community, focusing on: Promoting equality and inclusion in Kosovan society and beyond
- Academic and cultural activities such as: Analysis of historical documents and exhibitions related to the democratic and social heritage of the region & Interactive workshops for developing advocacy and critical thinking skills.
