IPPR North’s key conference on the State of the North will take place on 22nd January 2020. The event will discuss IPPR North’s State of the North report – our annual health check on the Northern economy.

2019 has been eventful year for the region. As well as the 5 year anniversary of the Northern Powerhouse, 2019 has witnessed the election of a new metro Mayor in the North – Jamie Driscoll for the North of Tyne Combined Authority who will deliver a keynote speech at this event.

Our State of the North report will analyse the root cause of many of our country’s socio-economic problems, and our conference will see conversations about divisions and connections between our regions, and about the potential of radical Mayors.

This event is being hosted in collaboration with the North of Tyne Combined Authority.
