The school was also attended by (former) regional MPs and Members of the European Parliament from social democratic parties.<\/p>\n\n<p>This year\u2019s discussions at the Kor\u010dula School, held from August 26 to August 29, focused on the socio-economic challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, as well as the position of women in relation to these developments and society in general.<\/p>\n\n<p>On this occasion, three issues were identified as urgent needs for the region:<\/p>\n\n<p>1\/ To address the climate and environmental emergency, the region urgently needs to transform national economies, so that economic development does not result in environmental degradation,<br\/>2\/ Gender equality must become a core political priority, from budgeting to economic structuring, and especially in urban planning across the region,<br\/>3\/ Care work done at home, from childcare to elderly care, must no longer remain solely a burden on women.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Kor\u010dula School brings together women and men, leaders and activists, from the region and beyond, to discuss the political, economic, social, and cultural aspects of gender equality, as well as women\u2019s leadership within the broader social democratic and progressive context.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Executive Director of the Institute for Social Policies \u201cMusine Kokalari,\u201d Visar Ymeri, participated in the joint regional panel at the Kor\u010dula School in Croatia, where political and socio-economic developments in the region were discussed, as well as the role that progressive political forces and civil society organizations have and should have.
