We are deeply outraged by the recent incident of sexist language directed at the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Saranda Bogujevci, regarding her choice to have children. This discriminatory behavior is unacceptable and has no place in our society. It is scandalous that anyone would use derogatory language to undermine the personal choices and life decisions of a woman.<\/p>\n\n
Society in Kosovo must absolutely uphold and cultivate the principles of freedom and equality. Ultimately, this is a matter of personal freedom and choice regarding how a person decides to live, whom they live with, how and whom they love, and whether and how they choose to create a family. The institutions of the Republic must create conditions in which this freedom is fully respected and enabled. Under no circumstances should public authorities restrict a person’s freedom, as certain majority MPs have repeatedly proposed. Freedom of expression and free thought must be respected\u2014but not when they propose or seek to violate the freedom of others. We want to make it clear that we stand in solidarity with Saranda and all women who have been subjected to similar attacks.<\/p>\n\n
It is essential that we work toward creating a culture where gender-based insults are never acceptable and where all individuals are respected for their inherent value and dignity. We call on all politicians and public figures to condemn and refrain from using sexist language or engaging in any form of discrimination or harassment against women. We must work together to build a society that values and respects diversity, equality, and human rights for all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
