A living wage ensures that workers and their families can afford a basic but decent life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
-For a family of four: \u20ac1,295 gross (\u20ac1,152 net), ranging from \u20ac1,224 gross (\u20ac1,091 net) in rural areas to \u20ac1,394 gross (\u20ac1,236 net) in urban areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-For a single adult: \u20ac816 gross (\u20ac720 net), with variations from \u20ac762 gross (\u20ac674 net) to \u20ac880 gross (\u20ac775 net).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The findings reveal a significant gap between current minimum wages and the estimated living wage, highlighting that many workers on minimum wage struggle to cover basic necessities. Despite proposed increases, the new minimum wage would still fall short of a living wage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Only 20% of wages meet the living wage standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Wage inequality is prominent, especially in public administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Men\u2019s wages are closer to the living wage compared to women\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Only three economic sectors meet the living wage for both genders: \u201cElectricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply,\u201d \u201cInformation and communication,\u201d and \u201cActivities of extraterritorial organizations and bodies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The study calls for urgent action from the government, businesses, trade unions, and NGOs to address these gaps and work towards eradicating working poverty in Kosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
