Workshop with Egyptian Assembly Candidates from the Municipalities of Peja and Istog

As part of the activity “Advocacy Sessions with Assembly Members and Political Parties,” on October 8, 2025, the Musine Kokalari Institute for Social Policy organized a workshop in the Municipality of Peja on the topic “Advocacy and Political Engagement.”

The workshop brought together candidates for municipal assemblies and representatives of civil society organizations from the Egyptian community in the municipalities of Peja and Istog.

Trainers at the event were Fisnik Rexhepi, who presented the legal framework and competencies of municipal assembly members, and Senad Sabovic, who discussed the importance of citizen communication and the use of social media during and after election campaigns for public engagement purposes.

During the discussions, participants highlighted several challenges they face within municipal assemblies, including the lack of adequate community representation and the limited executive role of the Committee on Communities.

In addition to the lecture sessions, participants engaged in practical exercises and group discussions, where they shared experiences, analyzed concrete challenges related to representation and communication, and proposed more effective ways of engaging with citizens. The activities focused on strengthening public communication skills and the use of digital tools to enhance transparency and public trust.

The goal of this workshop was to strengthen communication, empathy, and cooperative planning skills among assembly members and representatives of various ethnic communities.

This activity was implemented as part of the project “Fostering Political Dialogue on Interethnic and Social Cohesion,” supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and implemented by the Musine Kokalari Institute for Social Policy.
