Representatives of the Musine Kokalari Institute for Social Policy took part in the third edition of the (Engaged Democracy Convention), held this year in Skopje from May 21 to 23, 2025, under the theme “Engage, Inspire, Empower!”
During three days of debates, workshops, and networking, activists, journalists, researchers, artists, and civil society representatives from across the Western Balkans addressed topics including:
environment
public space
media
decent work and civic rights
…as well as emerging themes such as:
mental health
digital security
empowerment of anti-gender-based movements
Visar Ymeri, Executive Director of the Musine Kokalari Institute, co-moderated the thematic workshop on decent work, where challenges and opportunities for regional cooperation in protecting workers’ rights were discussed within a worsening economic and social context.
The convention once again demonstrated that democracy is built together—through the exchange of ideas, cross-border solidarity, and the will to create a fairer and more inclusive society.
