Engaging male leaders for gender equality in politics

The Executive Director of the Musine Kokalari Institute, Visar Ymeri, was invited to the event “Engaging Male Political Leaders for Gender Equality,” organized by the European Liberal Forum in Dubrovnik.

This event placed at the center of the discussion the role of men in promoting gender equality within political parties, shifting the focus away from seeing women exclusively as agents of empowerment and engaging male political leaders as key actors in transformative changes toward more inclusive politics.

Visar Ymeri emphasized the importance of the active involvement of male leaders in transforming gender norms in politics, building a more equal and inclusive political culture.

Representatives from Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia also participated in this event, sharing experiences and strategies for advancing gender equality in the region.

Gender equality is not just a women’s issue – it is everyone’s responsibility! Only through the engagement of all actors can we create a fairer and more representative society.
