EU enlargement must be built on social justice and solidarity – message from the Musine Kokalari Institute in Brussels

“It is essential that enlargement processes are based on social justice, regional solidarity, and civic participation,” stated Visar Ymeri, Executive Director of the Musine Kokalari Institute for Social Policy, during the “A Common New Chapter for EU Enlargement” conference held on 8 May in Brussels.

The event was organized by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) in cooperation with the S&D Group in the European Parliament.

The conference brought together European decision-makers, researchers, and civil society representatives to discuss the reforms needed for an inclusive and sustainable enlargement of the European Union.

Discussions focused on EU institutional reforms, gradual integration of candidate countries, the key role of youth, and the growing challenge of nationalist forces in Europe.
