The Institute for Social Policies “Musine Kokalari” supports today’s protest march in defense of fair, constitutional, and legal representation of minority communities, in this case the Bosniak and Roma communities. The manipulation of community representation, through a plan and directive from another minority community by establishing an initiative just days before the elections, clearly shows the intention to bring about appropriate political representation.
This interference by the Serbian authorities (through the Serbian List) in the political will of the Bosniak and Roma communities of Kosovo “transfers” their representation in the reserved seats of the Assembly of the Republic according to the needs of Vučić and the official Belgrade. This distortion of political will threatens the authentic representation of these communities, constituting a blatant violation of their human and civic rights.
Excluding deputies who genuinely represent the interests of their voters is a violation of the principle upon which this constitution was drafted, which guarantees presence through reserved seats to ensure that they become part of the decision-making process and that, in any case, they cannot be bypassed by a party from the majority community.
